aliciaAlicia Ohs has been practicing yoga for 16 years and teaching for 9. She certified through OM Yoga in 2005, and studied as an advanced anatomy student with Leslie Kaminoff, author of ‘Yoga Anatomy’ and founder of The Breathing Project, NYC. She continues to study movement exploration and the body through Klein technique, Alexander technique and in her dance practice.

In the last few years, Alicia has geared her teaching practice towards working with activists and those dealing with injury. She has been blessed to be able to develop workshops in anatomy and personal and community empowerment through yoga at Third Root Community Health Center, The Audre Lorde Project, The Leadership Program and The Icarus Project.  She still loves the pool-o-sweat on the mat practice and dips her toe in the power Vinyasa waters by taking and subbing classes at Kula Yoga Project.  In addition to yoga teaching, Alicia works with youth as a facilitator in Community Service, Leadership Development, Violence Prevention and the arts.

Alicia considers yoga a healing technique that all people should have access to regardless of age, race and class. She has taught in California, New Mexico and throughout New York, from privates to prison.

Alicia holds a BFA from NYU’s Experimental Theatre Wing and continues to work as a performance artist and dancer.
